Who Should Buy KOUENOM Dash Cams

This range suits drivers who want large screens and smartphone integration. The models are mirror-style units with dimensions between 11.5 and 13 inches. They offer voice control and include 64GB storage cards. You get options for 1080p or 4K front recording. Both support Android Auto. The range does not include compact front-only cameras. There are no models with smaller screens under 11 inches. You also will not find units without a rear backup camera included. If you prefer a small, discreet device, this brand may not fit your needs.

How to choose the right one

Check screen size needs

You should compare the physical display dimensions before buying. The KOUENOM 13-inch Mirror Dash Cam features a 13-inch panel, while the 12-inch model offers an 11.5-inch screen. A larger display makes navigation and rear-view monitoring clearer. However, it also requires more dashboard space. Measure your windshield area to ensure the unit fits without blocking your view. Choose the size that balances visibility with your interior layout.

Select resolution carefully

Resolution determines how much detail you capture on the road. The KOUENOM 12-inch 4K Mirror Dash Cam records in 4K, providing sharper images than the 1080p model. Higher resolution helps identify license plates and road signs more easily. If you prioritize crystal-clear footage for evidence, choose the 4K option. For standard recording needs, 1080p may suffice. Consider your storage limits, as higher resolution files take up more space on your memory card.

Verify smartphone compatibility

You must ensure your phone works with the dash cam system. Both models support Android Auto and Android operating systems. This integration allows you to use apps directly on the large screen. If you use an iPhone, check if the system supports iOS, as the data only lists Android compatibility. Matching your device to the supported operating system ensures smooth connectivity. Without this match, you lose access to navigation and media features on the mirror display.

Use voice control

Voice control lets you operate the device without touching it. Both KOUENOM models include this feature for hands-free convenience. You can start recording or adjust settings while driving. This method is safer than fiddling with buttons or touchscreens. Verify that the voice commands are responsive in your environment. If you prefer physical buttons, note that these units rely primarily on voice or touch inputs. Hands-free operation reduces distraction during your commute.

Check included storage

Storage capacity is essential for continuous recording. Both listed models include a 64GB card in the box. This amount holds a reasonable amount of footage before overwriting. You do not need to buy a card separately. However, 4K video consumes space faster than 1080p. If you record in high resolution, you might fill the 64GB card sooner. Ensure the included card meets your recording duration needs. You can always upgrade to a larger card later if necessary.

The unit measures 13 inches in width, 2.83 inches in height, and 0.71 inches in length. It weighs 1.3 pounds. These dimensions make it a substantial mirror-style device. The large footprint is designed to replace your rearview mirror, providing a wide field of view for the 13-inch display.

Can you connect your phone to the KOUENOM 12-inch 4K dash cam wirelessly?

The specifications for the 12-inch model do not explicitly list wireless connectivity options like the 13-inch version. It features Android Auto compatibility. Which KOUENOM dash cam is better for recording license plates?
