How to choose the right BOSS CarPlay stereo
Check control method needs
You should verify how you want to interact with your device. The BVCP9700A-C model supports direct touchscreen control. This allows you to tap icons and swipe menus without using voice commands. The BV9358B model does not list touchscreen capability in its specifications. If you prefer physical button inputs or voice-only navigation, the non-touch model may suit you better. Touchscreens offer convenience but can be harder to use while driving. Consider your comfort level with glass interfaces before deciding.
Verify camera inclusion
Parking safety depends on your rear visibility setup. The BVCP9700A-C unit includes a backup camera in the box. This saves you from purchasing a separate camera and wiring it yourself. The BV9358B model does not list an included camera. You must buy and install a compatible camera separately if you choose this unit. Check the wiring requirements for your existing camera if you keep it. Including a camera simplifies the installation process significantly for new owners.
Assess Bluetooth connectivity
Hands-free calling and audio streaming require wireless links. The BVCP9700A-C explicitly lists Bluetooth connectivity in its attributes. This lets you pair your phone for calls and music without cables. The BV9358B specifications do not mention Bluetooth support. You may need to use auxiliary input or USB for audio if you choose the top pick. Ensure your driving habits align with the available connection types. Wired connections are reliable, but wireless offers cleaner dash aesthetics.
Confirm screen size fit
Viewing clarity varies by display dimensions. Both models feature a 7-inch screen. This size provides ample space for CarPlay interfaces and navigation maps. The BV9358B measures 7.4 inches wide, while the BVCP9700A-C is slightly narrower at 6.71 inches. Both fit standard double DIN slots. The consistent screen size ensures similar visual experiences. You do not need to compromise on visibility by choosing between these two options. Both deliver clear, readable displays for daily driving tasks.
Review physical dimensions
Installation space is critical for proper fitment. The BV9358B weighs 2.5 pounds and measures 5.35 inches in depth. The BVCP9700A-C does not list weight or depth in the provided data. You must rely on the width and height measurements for clearance checks. The BV9358B is taller at 4.57 inches compared to the BVCP9700A-C at 3.8 inches. Verify your dash cavity depth to ensure the unit sits flush. Proper fitment prevents rattling and ensures secure mounting.
